I've only had this crimp ring removal tool for 1 day but I have removed around 50 rings, without marring any of the fittings. The dial took a bit to get used to (remembering what symbol to use for 1/2" 3/4" & 1") but it became easier the more I used it. The blade easily cuts through black copper crush crimp rings of 1/2" 3/4" & 1". I like how it springs open and also has a lock to keep it closed when not in use. I figured I would have adjust the screw to get the right closed distance to prevent damaging fittings, however I did not have to. I noticed that it does not lock closed while it's set to remove 3/4" or 1", but I do not feel like that's a drawback just something I noticed. The black finish started to wear off the cutting edge, time will tell if that is just cosmetic or functional "damage". I'm really glad I got this one!I guess you can cut off the copper crimp rings with a dremel or hacksaw. But this is faster, easier, and less likely to cause damage. I only used it a few times, including 1 test cut, but it seemed to work just as expected. You do have to pay close attention to the adjustment dial and use it only as documented. But not hard to do.It cuts the rings no issues, what more do ya need?Works as describedI watched videos and figured why not? I can do this. Found the tool on Amazon got it shortly after I ordered it. I am now able to repair any minor issue in my home. The tool works well and is easy to use. The only minor downside is that it doesn't have a latch to close it when not in use.I really like these cutters. I have always been a copper guy but, over the last couple of years, I have heard so much good stuff about pex that I decided to give it a try.On the small basement project I was working on I only ended up using them twice but I was glad that I had them. It takes about 20 seconds and saved me about $5 if fittings. I figure they will pay for themselves after a couple of other jobs. They really do cut the crimp rings without doing any damage to the fittings. I recommend them if you do pex at all.Great qualityThe adjustment knob on my unit broke. The knob is necessary to set the depth of cut for different fitting materials and for me was used very often. It is still possible to use the tool, however it is a lot harder to set the depth adjustment without the knob. Still a good product given the price for a DIYer, but I wouldn't use this tool if time was a concern. These work great! I’ve used a few different styles of crump ring cutters & these make fixing happy little mistakes a breeze!Obviously, they don’t remove a bad crimp without cutting the pex first but you already know that from looking at the picture. There are other styles that DO remove bad crimps without cutting the pex first but I simply don’t like’em.Works well. Excellent value. Should have bought one years ago. I work in the plumbing trade. Highly recommended. My plumbing wholesaler wanted $100 for a crimp ring removal tool that works on 1 size pex only. This tool does 3 sizes, 1/2", 3/4" and 1".Saves a ton of time. A couple of clicks and the crimp rings fall off. Way easier than a hacksaw and no damage to fitting. I did have a couple older fittings that it didn’t cleanly cut but 90% is still way better than a hack saw. For me it’s worth the price.I had a collection of pex pipe from a construction demolition and in a few hours saved dozens of fittings removing the old ring clamps with no damage to the fixtures. Loved it.
