So hard to find IT tools made in USA, here's one that I'm happy to own.I used this to terminate runs of cat6 I ran under the house to each room. I used keystone jacks. Some of the jacks you buy at homedepot will come with cheap plastic punchdown tools, and instructions to then cut excess wire with scissors. This looks like garbage, and is not the way to do things. You need a punchdown tool to seat the wire and cut the excess in one step.I don't know if it is the tool, my technique, the cat6 wires I was using, or the keystones from monoprice that I recently bought ----- but I did deduct one star since the wires sometimes needed two punches to cut. I would think that would become annoying to a pro.The instructions said only to adjust the pressure to HI for 66 connections so I didn't try that, but it might have helped. All my connections were done on LO.An exceptional tool, made in USA. Not a cheap throw away product, designed for extended use. I've purchased Ideal branded tools for many years and continue to do so. Why? I like the idea that they are made in the USA and they deliver a good product for a fair price. Package came with two blades, a 110 and a 66, so your bases are covered. Has a rubber top for comfort (unlike some others) functions with a definite click, blade stays sharp. Stay away from the annoying, cheap junk that makes you hate the job. Purchase a quality tool like this one that you will enjoy every time you use it.Great punch tool. I've been using Ideal punch down tools for many moons and they have always provided smooth but solid punch action making easy work of the cat 5e and cat 6 cabling terminations. Would be nice improvement to add a 66 blade set to this but it will cover most of the punch down work I do.I had been hoping to get an Ideal punch down tool for a wile and jumped when I saw it on sale for $29. I am in the IT industry and have used a few different punch down tools the Ideal ones are better than anything thing else out there including some big IT tool names. The other thing I love about this is that it is Made In The USA, which is hard to find for IT tools. The Ideal Punchmaster II is a great choice for those of you looking for a suitable punch down tool. This tool works well with most CAT 6 keystone jacks on the low impact setting. I've terminated roughly 200 unshielded twisted pairs with this tool and I have no complaints thus far. This is an excellent punch tool. Having worked for a University for several years as a telecom technician, I saw a wide range of punch tools used, and they are NOT created equal. Poor quality punches are nearly impossible to use in comparison with better ones. This Ideal is on the cheaper end of high quality punches, and performs comparably with the best of them. Do not buy cheaper than this.Works good out on the job site. This deal cannot be beat... genuine Ideal Punchmaster II. Comes with 110 blade only, which is the most commonly used blade for CAT5 or CAT6. If you do telco work, be sure to get a 66 blade for it also. I do data and IP security work, so it's perfect. For the price, and as long as you don't really need the 66 blade, this is a sweet deal for datacom people.
