Zipper is NOT brass. It's plastic. Not as small as some I've seen, but not as big as some others. Also, there are no side flaps on the inside like other tanker bags have. On the plus side, it IS made of thick material, so if the zipper holds up, it may turn out to be a fairly decent bag in spite of itself.
