I became frustrated with the typical ten dollar hoe from the local home center that lasts about a year until the metal crook that joins the handle to the head breaks off along the weld seam. Welcome to the drop-forged eye hoe that's made in India---no more welds. It's clearly made with durability in mind. The head has a raised rib along middle of the plate for extra strength. I paired it with Seymour 1 3/4" dia. eye hoe handle; it fit perfectly. It took a few taps with a rubber mallet to fully seat the handle into the eye. Instead of using a wedge (not included with the eye hoe head or handle), I decided to use a large washer... just drove it into place. Rhe advantage is that the final screw that secures the head to the handle goes through the hole in the washer.I've already used the hoe for leveling the bottom of a ditch and for dredging (deepening) a small pond. It scoops up nearly as much dirt or mud from above as standard shovel does at just above ground level. I expect this to last many years - time will tell. Five stars.
