I wanted this item in December to strip a MT bike wheel so that I could put a new cassette on it. I purchased a whip chain which came. However the Silverline 240618 Cassette Lockring Removal Socket Tool 12 Splines. which I ordered with it was deemed an 'add on item' I wanted this item particularly as it had a female 1/2" socket with which to locate it onto the corresponding 1/2" drive on my torque wrench! All the others featured spanner flats so you have to use a spanner, and either strain your wrists holding it square, or gash your knuckles when it slips if you don't! It was at a reasonable price, but I was not able to purchase it until it was deemed I had ordered enough junk so that I could have it added on! - I got this in June 6 months later I had the cassette off in a jiffy! - great product.Just shattered a Shimano tool, ordered this to replace as not of the same material and less brittle. Still a work in progress! But it’s been under a lot more force than the Shimano branded tool and it’s still intact. Very happy! Important to note, this product allows you to place the screwer in to hold in place while using a spanner, but unlike many, it also has been designed to take a 1/2 socket wrench/breaker bar so much more options for greater effect. It worked and I have used it about 4 times both to remove and fit cassettes to rims. Cassettes were very tightly fixed and it took a lot of force to remove them. Good that you have the option of using a socket wrench or large spanner. Starting to show signs of wear on the end but still working. If you plan to use it a lot a dearer make in a harder metal may prove better.Unfortunately the tool spline is too large, so it slips easily. My cassette asks for a tightening torque of 40Nm. You can only apply about 10Nm before the tool slips. Cassette was new so I am confident it's the tool that is toleranced incorrectly.I could not get this to fit snugly to my shimano cassette no matter how I rotated it. It seemed too large. Ended up buying one locally. This is the second Silverline bike tool that I've had issues with. I won't be buying from this brand again.
