This is really only for emergency use on a bike trip. Too small to easily grip (my wife simply could not remove a bushing rivet). It does work if your hands are strong, or you could bring a bench vise on your bike trip to clamp it into. Better instructions are needed for how to loosen a link that is replaced, then binds. I don't expect this will last for many years, and that's probably why Park Tool sells replacement pin drivers for it. When you need one, you really need one, so it might as well be a good brand.Great little chain cutter. It has two slots: one to cut the chain and another to loosen up tight links after you've pressed it back together. Both work well.Worked as advertised.I have an e-bike with a lot of torque and have broken my chain on a few occasions. Having this tool on my bike saved me from a long walk home.I've been slowly building my arsenal of bike tools and always keep coming back to Park Tool Park Tool is a bit more expensive than some other brands but I haven't had any issues with them and the same goes for this chain tool. It's small so you can store it easily in your bike bag if you carry an extra chain. You need to use a bit of strength to pop the link but other than that, it works great and gets the job doneThe driving pin should be made out steel because it can bend if not line up perfect, but I could bend it back starightPerformed exactly as I needed it to. I gave a 4 out of 5 on ease of use, because it takes a little bit of toying around with grips to find the right way to get enough force on it to push the chain pins out. And pushing the chain pins out took quite a bit of force (as you'd hope). But I've ridden roughly 100 miles since changing it and its working perfectly, and the tool feels study enough to feel like it'll last forever, but it also small enough that on longer distance rides I can pop it in my bag with no worries about taking up very much space or weighing me down.Tips:-When pushing the pins out of a connection you want to connect again after, be careful not to push it all the way out. Ideally push out enough that you can take the link apart, but that the pin is still in the outer bit. If you push it all the way out then it seems like it would be very difficult to put back in (I did this and tried for a little bit and just decide to go to another link). So be careful when getting close to that point (when I got to this point I would do this by tightening it like a 1/4 or 1/2 turn and taking it out and seeing if it seperates).-Make sure you use the link loosener. The directions that come with it gave two different options for putting the chain (one for pushing pins in / pushing pins out, and another for loosening links). What I didn't realize is that when I put the pins in that they were very tight and needed to be loosened. So don't overlook this step.I've used these for years, they are really handy to have in a repair kit. I've seen some reviews that show some have broken, I can tell you from experience that if you break one of these you did something wrong. These things don't just strip out without a lot of force and misuse.Used this to break 11 speed KMC e-bike chain. I found it a bit fiddly to keep the punch lined up with the chain rivet. What happens is, you get it lined up, but as the punch contacts the chain rivet the rotation moves it so it is no longer lined up. On one occasion after the rivet had been pushed through, when I unscrewed the tool the punch unscrewed and detached, easy enough to screw back in though.I think it does need used with care, if a lot of pressure is applied when the punch is not lined up with the chain rivet, I'd fear it might just bend the location prongs. I'ts not a bad tool considering it's size and that it's not intended for every day use, there are no huge issues when used carefully, I'm happy enough to keep it in my tool kit, it's small enough to go in the carry with kit for on the move repairs. Not perfect perhaps, but does get the job done.I haven't used the tight link loosening function so can't comment on that.Great little tool. After reading reviews on here for various chain tools I decided to choose this one. I made the right choice, the price was good and the tool works very well. Good price to quality ratio. It took me a few turns and the chain pin slid out easily, by hand. It's sturdy and small enough to fit in my little under seat tool bag on rides.I needed to shorten my chain by a few links and this did the job perfectly! The brand also has very helpful videos on YouTube to guide on repairs as well.It was delivered before the expected arrival time. Although this was over a week, but I was expecting 2 weeks.Very happy with it!Had bad experience wirh cheap tool, actually it wasn't cheaper but comes with other related tools. Cheap one worked with old chains but it gave the ghost when used with sturdy new KMC. With this I had little struggle due to very short sliding arm so used pliers to lengthan distance where I can apply torque, I noticed that sliding arm has notches similar to screwdriver bit so if any one knows about screwdriver handle that fits this sliding arm please comment as that wouuld help a lot and would make breaking chain lot lot easierHad this 2 years now but didn't want to review until used a few times. Had cheaper tools before and they are just frustrating and the threads strip and the pins break as not held straight. This one just works, despite the small size it takes little effort and I have confidence it will work each time. Using Shimano 9 speed chains. I don't take it with me but see no disadvantage in being "mini" except perhaps being harder to find in the toolbox!Tool broke after about two years of use when trying to remove a chain. I have never used anything but my hands to apply pressure. I even bought Park Tool replacement pins, thinking how great this little tool was. I've had many chain tools and they brake, but that is pins get distorted or brake, but never seen body to brake. I've heard about life time warranty for Park Tools. I contacted Amazon in regards to this and they were very helpful and agreed to replace it. Currently awaiting replacement. Overall I find this tool easy to use, small and compact, it is easy to carry with you. I will continue to review this item.
